I started hosting in 2013. Short-term rentals were still a side hustle, Kelowna's downtown skyline was three towers shorter, and I was doing every turnover myself. For nine years, I hosted my own units the way I'd want to be hosted: handwritten welcome notes, the recommendation that became the highlight of the trip, responsive support whenever a guest needed it.
In 2022, Kelowna recognised it on the Top 40 Under 40. In 2024, I formalised it as Lake Life: a Kelowna property management company for fellow owners of STR eligible properties who want the same consistent, professional standard for their unit. We take a small number of new properties each year. That's how we keep the standard intact.
