Own a condo here? Check it in two minutes →
The Brooklyn at 1471 St Paul St is one of 25 properties the City of Kelowna lists as eligible for short-term rentals as a principal use since June 1, 2026. If you own a condo here, you can rent it on Airbnb without living in it, provided your unit is licensed and your strata bylaws allow it. This page covers what that means for Brooklyn owners specifically.
Is The Brooklyn approved for Airbnb?
Yes. 1471 St Paul St is on the City of Kelowna's list of eligible properties in the short-term rental sub-zone. Under that principal use, the City says the property "can operate as a short-term rental for any length of time and does not need to be owner occupied for a minimum number of days per year."
The City requires a Strata Council Consent Application Form, completed by an authorised strata council member, to apply for the sub-zone. Your current bylaws still govern the details, so read them before you list.
How established is short-term renting at The Brooklyn?
It is one of the most active addresses on the list. When we last read the City of Kelowna business licence register, in September 2026, more than 60 current short-term rental licences were registered at 1471 St Paul St. Only two addresses on the City's list showed more: Playa del Sol, and one tower on Sunset Drive.
For an owner, that matters in two ways. Short-term renting is well established in the building. It also means you are competing with dozens of other licensed units at the same address, so presentation, pricing and reviews make the difference.
Check what your unit offers guests
Parking and shared amenities are details guests filter for, and the City requires your listing to say whether parking is provided. Confirm what your own unit and strata provide before promising anything in a listing.
What a Brooklyn owner needs before listing
- A City of Kelowna business licence under Short-Term Rental Accommodation, Major (Principal use). The application fee is $50 and the licence is $345 a year. See our Kelowna short-term rental licence guide.
- Provincial registration. The City notes operators "must also meet Provincial requirements, including registration with the Province."
- Strata sign-off where required. The City's documents include an owner consent form and a strata consent form.
- Fire and safety setup. A wall-mounted 2A10BC fire extinguisher on each floor, smoke alarms tested monthly with a logbook, smoke alarms, extinguishers and carbon monoxide detectors tested every year, and a 24/7 contact.
- A compliant listing. Your licence number, the number of permitted sleeping units, and whether you provide parking must appear in your marketing.
If you have a long-term tenant now
If your unit has a long-term tenant in place, it can only switch once that tenancy ends. If that is your situation, you can still plan: confirm eligibility, prepare the licence application and fire safety items, and have the furnishing and listing ready, so the unit earns from the first available week.
Already hosting weekly or monthly stays?
In Kelowna, any rental under 90 consecutive days counts as a short-term rental, so furnished weekly and monthly stays already need a licence. If you are handling those guests, cleaning and turnovers yourself, a manager can take that work off your hands and open up nightly bookings in the busier months.
Rules that apply inside every unit
The City limits each unit to one booking at a time, no more than two adults per sleeping unit, and a maximum of 3 bedrooms used for short-term rental. Read the full Kelowna short-term rental rules for condos.
